FAQ

How much do movers cost in Ottawa?

In 2026, two movers and a truck typically run about $130 to $170 an hour, and three movers about $175 to $220. A one-bedroom move is often $420 to $700 in total, and a three-bedroom house $1,100 to $1,600.

Can a mover charge more than the estimate?

In Ontario, a business cannot charge more than 10 per cent above an estimate that is included in a written contract. Get your estimate in writing, and note that changes you ask for on the day, like extra items or stops, are billed on top.

When should I book?

For end-of-month or summer weekend dates, book four to six weeks ahead. For mid-month weekdays, one to two weeks is often enough. Book your condo elevator before the truck.

Are movers licensed?

No. Household movers are not licensed in Canada. Check for liability and cargo insurance, a written estimate, and a physical business address.

Do you move between Ottawa and Gatineau?

Yes. The move is billed by the hour like any local move. Quebec's OPC requires a written contract with the total amount for moves on that side. Late June and early July fill up fast because of Quebec's July 1 lease cycle.
